I incorporated Novaurora in 2001 while still a student, and developed it from a freelance business into one of Pittsburgh Magazine’s “Six Hot Agencies” by 2006. With technology backgrounds, but passions for design and advertising, Michael Capone and I created innovative work for our clients— from web applications for private investigators and day spas, to designing the complete campaign for a multi-million dollar condo tower. In March 2007, after an attempt to spinoff a Novaurora product with a Pittsburgh investor, I accepted an offer to lead all design efforts for Mint.com. Mint was acquired by Intuit in late 2009, so I moved on to Bessemer Venture Partners as Silicon Valley’s first Designer-in-Residence, before co-founding Votizen— a company which allows people to use their power as a registered voter in-between elections.
